i found a couple apps but hey are all used on windows and use those dbc files..

I think your only real option is to use Wine with those programs

Does the core auto update by defualt? It took much longer to start the server today and some quests are missing ingame.
Such as https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=38...-boar-ribs which is quite hard to miss when leveling

It should automatically import the SQL files, including updates, but it won't magically update the source without you doing so yourself.
