I was using kubuntu but server sat for 2 years crashed trying to update, asked my dad who is a linux programmer for help he said clean isntal pclinuxos so I did, the wow install guide Im using says do vm with debian so thats what I did

get yourself a sql client app...
heidisql for windows
sequel-pro for Mac
You can then connect to the database server directly and run the queries easy peazy
