You might try this mod out. I personally have not but I have used some of their other stuff.
https://github.com/araxiaonline/mod-auctionator

It looks like it might have more direct control over pricing but a more involved setup to get everything dialed in.

I haven't tried it, but the config files as I recall have configuration items for the bind IP of each service (of course), the IP of the SQL database, the IP that the authserver internally talks to the world server over, and the public IP that the authserver will refer clients to fit the world server. Shouldn't need much hacking, just copy the built software where it's needed and configure appropriately.

That said, the build process seems to hardcode a lot of paths. Separating auth and world could be hard. You're probably best only separating the SQL server from AzerothCore. Although I probably wouldn't bother tbh, in the interests of latency.

If the game is working, it's really just a question of networking at that point. You'll need the external IPs to be appropriate, then use port forwarding to make them accessible.

Alternatively, set up some sort of VPN-to-home and give your friends access. I did something like that because my ISP doesn't make port forwarding pleasant and also I wanted it for other things.
