Mpqs are designed to be write once, it's like an archive. Generally you shouldn't be editing mpqs once they have been built. In fact it always writes new files, it doesn't overwrite files, so unless you use the 'compress mpq' option which essentially rebuilds the mpq, it will always grow in file size

Aye. I am aware of this. But I am in development mode so I can get away with for now and just redo the mpq when it reaches uncomfortable levels. Some of my testers have slow Internet and don't love downloading half a gigabyte of patches every time
