was messing about with my vanilla installation, copied a bunch of wmo stuff over from WotLK and got the Gilneas patch not to crash. But nearly all the textures are missing, so it's 99% green. Was wondering if anyone knew what kind of files do I need to copy over for the textures?

So, one way to identify which textures are missing is to look into the main WMO file with a hex editor and read the textures in the file and then backport all missing textures. I do have a piece of software at home that came with Amaroth's tool kit that breaks down the all the files etc in a WMO, but I can't recall what it's named currently.

I'd you're bringing in anything from TBC or WotLK you can bet their will be missing textures, and other stuff.

Be aware that in some cases, not everything from WotLK can be backported to Vanilla. TBC stuff is fairly compatible for the list part, but has some issues with certain things going backwards.

If I may suggest, if you're really new to this, perhaps watch Wall's Wallcraft tutorials online. They're long but have a ton of information that I found extremely helpful. Otherwise, the community here in some of the other discord channels are great as well, but yeah, the best thing you can do is try to soak in as much information from where you can.

I believe someone here recently also posted the model changing website link which also has a ton of information and resources.

It's a very steep learning curve and I'm still learning and doing new things every day and it's been months that I spend hours a day at this. Patience and perseverance and the will to learn. Keep us posted!!!

Also worth noting is, don't make any MPQ vanilla patch bigger than 32,768 files / or bigger than 4 gigs in size

this looks very interesting. I was only going to make a very small detour into this world editing stuff (more of a core editing C++ kinda guy), and was ready to deem it not worthy, but your tool might just flip it to the "it is actually worthy" side
