However the government has informed people who are missing out on work, that they will be covered by state employment insurance. So they will be able to cover their expenses for up to 6 months.

Instead of social isolation they want to drag out the peak so people who are seriously ill get treatment without overcrowding the NHS (which is already underfunded) and build immunity with regular people who catch it

But almost all of that can be done with distancing, minus the herd immunity
