No idea, should be possible I guess for the blending particles because they have changed during the porting but I'm not dev so Inhad to manually edit them (had to change particles' blending of [0]to[4] to blending 1).
As for the GeometryModel it's the first time I've seen outside m2 models called within the m2, no idea if it's a common thing.

I did attempt changing blending from 4 to 1 but that didn't work, it just displayed nothing

Yeah, it was just showing the 2 differents textures but needed the geometry model to be applied on.
