Surely someone has worked out a way of doing this, people are using these same models in WOTLK with the same DB structure requirement

Would mean that no one in WOTLK would be able to control what Geosets are enabled, and even if they can and generate the correct Mask how are they visualising what Geosets belong to what group and what their respective ID's are?

i kinda guess by blender, cause the meshes are somewhat grouped up most of the time

i try the TWW data, and if those dont work out i manually start playing with it till i get one that looks okay

Not sure i quite understand why:

With this one, you can select a geoset out of the first 8 groups. 0x00200000 will select geoset 2 out of group 600 and therefore 602.

when u select the options at top to change it to hex, whatever numbers you place in there 0x111 or whatever, then take it off hex you'd get the mask i believe. or other way around im not sure

i use the 0x1 portion when editing, i only use the normal numbers taking data from the TWW then look at the selected portions in hex
