I think the main difference is that changing stuff about back in LK days wasn't punishable.. which made it fun to try different shit out.. 50g for a talent respec? Few hundred on gems? Sure.

The thing with retail, is you invest heavily in a covenant for example, or a legendary.. and they shift the meta.. and you're screwed.

I dont need 10 meta builds buts its about being able to customize it alteast
if I get item from raid that is better than previous in terms of DPS increasement yes thats good but what If I gain some hitrating beacuse of new item and lose crit well then its time to take talent out of hit rate and slap it to crit somewhere so you can get even more dmg
