In 335 you have the unit name/guild name and the speech bubbles above the player witch are 3D placed Text.
There is a shortcut to enable nameplates instead of unit name / guild name this will be also 3d placed over the unit.

I believe chat bubble and the nameplates are also frames, which already scale on camera position.

I remember that nameplates was very shitty in 335 before blizz implemented the C_Nameplate API in bfa

Yeah, but the most obvious is the one you can get close to. Frames are a bit more unaffected in terms of "closeness", so I do them last

But from what I saw the text rendering has only a few places that need to be redone.
So I guess if I do 3d properly, frames will be sideffect fixed as well
