only happens to me when the paths in the config is actually wrong (e.g. pointing to a wrong WoW version or non existant location)

I did fixed this. . needed 2 \\ instead of \
that's complete trash xD

yup, \ is commonly used for espacing special characters (that also includes \ ) so it needs \\\\
