Because you could render the waypoints as spheres of whatever color and move them around and when you hit save it saves to db or to a file or whatever you prefer…

I only ask because I found a program called EditPatrol where you'd load your chosen map, basically "draw" a route or a waypoint. It would save the coords, etc and allows you to load directly into your DB instead of using the rather long winded .wp add command.
