I am thinking a bit about gamma correct rendering and how we use textures in Novus. Does anyone know if WoW textures are supposed to be sampled as sRGB?

I had some headache when I was using wow textures in Houdini. I think I had to multiply them by 2.2 constant for them to be correct.

Though I do not remember if Houdini was readin png in sRGB format. It was too long time ago

That sounds to me like the texture is supposed to be sRGB, but it was sampled linearly so you had to compensate after sampling.

For all I know, blizz do not do any gamma corrections in shader. They simply upload DXT as compressed into GPU through GAPI and sample it as is

Exactly, they use BC1/2/3_sRGB samplers
