Sadly anything passed Cata regarding spells and talent tree is not well recieved, but the rest is nice. So not sure if modding passed Wotlk would even be big any time soon

You could easily script SL abilities with SpellScript in TCore.

But reading db2s is a pain, a lot of basic things are not implemented yet (like using Howling Blast consuming Rime as a core of the spell system) and I don't think most "scripts events" trigger.

Reimplementing old school talent trees is as easy as writing something to interpret lua button presses, and probably copying the Artifact/3.3.5 talent trees lua/xml into SL.

ill probably look into actually porting the newer talent trees into wotlk cause i prefer it but could also just make whole new one
