Hey guys. I'm considering starting work on an alphamap tool, since that's what got me stuck/burned out on my WoW project. I know some tools exist to import/export alphamaps, and I want to make sure I wouldn't be duplicating something that exists. So could someone look at the scope of my idea and tell me if I'm duplucating an existing tool?

The basic scope is, something like a modified paint version for the alphamaps. It would be able to display multiple maps, manage them as a grid, have a library of cookie-cutter rock textures to paste in, and be able to show the layers transposed.

Basically, oriented around texturing large areas (multiple adts) via alphamap in an efficient manner

I would probably be doing it in C#, since I'm most comfortable with UI elements in that language. And I'm just one man, so no idea when I could deliver it. But in think I have to work on it because I'll never get unstuck on my project if I don't

I've got like 50 new adts for lordaeron completion, and doing each one just burned me last year and I've been inactive since then.

I think I'll decide if I'm doing it after blizzcon, because then I'll know if blizzard itself is touching that map area in the next expansion. Might still do it for the community. Would anyone else use something like this?
