it's a continuation of the leaked sunwell core, that was a private fork of TC for a popular private server, similar to if warmane released their core.
Pretty similar story to when nostalrius core leaked, became vmangos and burried older "public" vanilla core repos

I mean, it got popular for a reason, stock TC is basically unplayable if you wanna play blizzard content, there's a reason everyone moved to it when it released
