I even added the colour variations (or in this screenshot just overwrote them) but the form still doesnt change, it seems to be locked to the horde/alliance form

that old forum is down since a long time. you can find a backup here: https://modcraft-backup.de/
it has no search function though so you need to find the tutorial in the forum by hand

It's not locked by horde/alliance. I would check player.cpp or player.h and look up the player_bytes to make sure you have the right byte set to bloodelves.
