[Archive] how to open patch.mpq (burning crusade)
Quote: Iv read yas comments im working on it right now why dont ya give it a shot heres my guide
1. Move the Bc folder so you can install it again on another folder
2. Start installing
3. Go to the installation folder/data and make a new folder called 0-50% mpq
4. when the installation is at 53% aprox, it will start to copy things to the expansion.mpq then take patch.mpq file and move it inside the folder.
5. At the 60% aprox it iwll start to write an entire new patch.mpq with the other files.
6. Finish the install, and you got the patch.mpq sliced by 2, and the 2 parts are readable by winmpq
7. Time to play with the files
If ya could do it faster with the models make me one rofl

Quote: Or you can use MPQtool to extract the whole content of any MPQ. In case of Patch.MPQ, fully extract it (1.6Gb) then make 2 MPQs of approximatly 800Mo each, openable with MyWarcraftStudio (MWCS can only open archives < 1Gb)

might take something like 30 mins untill its done
you will find the folders in your 'c:/documents and settings/yoursername' dir, from there you can put them anywhere you like and do whatever you want with them
Update: Another possible and maybe easier way is:
◘Make a shortcut of MPQtool.exe
◘Right clic on it, select properties, then in the path window, add this:
-e "C:\Program Files\Burning Crusade F&F\Data\patch.MPQ"
(Yes, there is a space between ...MpqTool.exe" and -e"C:\...)
◘Apply the changes, press Ok, and launch the shorcut.
Example:
Let's say that you installed MPQtool in the c:\MPQ folder, it will look like this:
"C:/MPQ/MpqTool.exe" -e "C:\Program Files\Burning Crusade F&F\Data\patch.MPQ"
Hope this helps.
