if you look in characterselect.xml and search for CharSelectCharacterName you get the one under your char. That inherits from a front (GlueFontNormalHuge)
That is defined in GlueFontStyles.xml. So you search that xml for GlueFontNormalHuge and find and entry:

you make a copy of that thing and name it something unique. change the color code and then use that unique name in characterselect.xml to inherit from.
