because you don't own them, they are just references to entities that the core claims exists. they can be moved to another map or destroyed completely

storing the GUID is the safe way to store them across updates, and then ask the local map for them whenever you need them in a new update

it's called the "dangling pointer" problem, and is probably the #1 or top 3 most common issue causing crashes
