the display ID is just a dummy display for that item type, so we have a "fallback" display in the few cases where cache gets bugged, but the display is sent from the generated item

the sound type is determined by the entry range, ie. cloth or mail etc

gotcha, that latter was what I was planning but i might've stumbled into one of those cache issues cause i did not get the cache icon, might've just done something wrong as well. thanks for explaining

we played around with the binary edit for item.dbc too, but it had too many weird issues specifically for weapons, trinkets and rings

yeah, i've understood it has issues like that. we'll probably end up rendering item.dbc all the time since we're not strictly using dynamic items, just a lot of generated ones

only issue i've ran into is the material sound problem, all other issues i found when testing were resolved with item cache packets
