[Archive] HOW TO MOVE FILES INTO A MPQ at the speed of light
Quote: K guys heres a guide on how to make files go-out of the MPQ. Be changed into another file name, and go back into a MPQ w/o much hassle. Being a hardcore editor i have been playing around with alot of programs and i've seemed to find a favorite list for this paticular type of model change. They areThe renamer is in the how to renamer files sticky post, and i wasnt quite sure what the name was. Mywarcraftstudio is easy enough to find, And MPQ Master is a google item (just search for MPQ Master on google) OK
- Mywarcraftstudio
- MPQ Mater
- Bach renamer
Now heres the way to do this all in a breeze.
Pull up MPQ masterGo to the open sign at the top (or file open whatev)Open the model.mpqpull out the model that u want to be changed tosave it in a folder (warcraft, data, Character,Nightelf, Male- WHATEVnow on MPQ master open the texture.mpqTake all the textures u want changed intoextract them all to the folder w/ model.Once u are done pull up the renamer open up all the files in the Male or Female folder Change the thing u want changed into the thing u want changed 9(like change NE to Gnome) Now the sad part that ruins it, pull up WoW studio and Create new MPQ Now add one of the Gnome (for example) files just like u should in the old days b4 dis ^^^i would suggest doing the model so u know ezly what not to add again later Once all the folders are in there (and the model) open up MPQ master btw u can close renamer Now open up ur new MPQ and go to the LAST folder, should consist of a male or female folder Add everything that's a male or female file in there (not the files that dont say male or female) Now add all the files w/o male or female in the file b4 it (should be a Race) Thats all, and if a problem occurs heres a FAQ/ troubleshooting guide
Q-I am having trouble figuring out what to do with the renamer
A- The easiest way is to go to How to rename files sticky post
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Q-I dont get what to do on step 13-15 please help!
A- on step 13 u simply open up a new MPQ, on 14 u have to add ONE file to that MPQ, and it has to be the model (we are still doing the folder b4 it, for instance Character\NightElf\Male\NightElf.m2) and step 15 was suggesting that u put in the model, just makes things a little easier.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Those are mainly the Questions i hear when i tell people about this. But if u have any other questions plz ask. If you are still having probs, i would check to see in MyWarcraftStudio that everything looks right. Most people know how a completed model edit looks like, and if somethings rong (File not in a folder or something) thats whats making the thing mess up.
HAVE FUN, HOPEFULLY THIS WILL HELP U GET BETTER AT EDITS!!!!!!

Quote: Nice Guide, it's probably for more advanced model changers instead of looking through the files to find what you need.

Quote: The helm "problem" is no problem at all, each helm model has an extension at the end such as _HuM.m2, which would signify it was for a Human Male, so if you changed a Human Male character into a Tauren Male character, then the game tries to place the model for the Human Male onto your new "Tauren".
Can be fixed using .dbc's if you look deeply into it.
EDIT :: This is a very easy .dbc change, I never really edit my character's race so basically what I said was from just knowledge of model edits, and therefore I attempted to do it myself, it's a very easy fix, I believe I may make a tut on it if anyone is interested.
