I've a quick question about visual studio. If I only make changes to a single file/a few files can I speed up the building process by only re-building those files? Like if I make some changes to spelleffects.cpp I should theoretically only need to build the "game" library, no?

No you would only need to build SpellEffects.cpp

There's no build option when I right click it, I guess it's just the compile option when dealing with a single file?

It would probably rebuild associated files along with it, but visual studio should handle that for you

If you do it from command line, you'll see that it skips anything that hasn't been changed or doesn't import/export to/from the file(s) you modified

Just don't "rebuild" the project, or it will rebuild literally everything
