Depends, does the client need to know about the spell? If you want it to show client side, yes you need a proper spell. Otherwise you can use a server side spell

i went through some spells and it seems like there is not even much happening in scripts and all is handled automatically through dbc config so now im not even sure if i want to write server side spell

Thanks! I'll try putting those in. I did find out that when I clear all my map's models, the crash goes away so that's a great idea. I wonder why they didn't just turn green though kind of like Skully's screenshot

I can see the model of the texture clearly and just fine in Noggit, just not in-game

I'm not sure if this is the same issue you're facing, but some textures aren't viewed in game due to light and so by bringing down the blp's lightness in photoshop, it could work. I've done it before but I may be incorrect for your situation in particular as I can't recall if the error appeared green or a different color in game

Now that you said Lightning and Titi said Specular model, i disabled Specular Lightning and now it works!
