I've also been trying to learn a bit more about bones as well for having hanging parts of weapons/items. It definitely uses a bone to emulate the hanging effect, I'm honestly just not sure how to do that inside of blender and what I need to do to make sure that works inside of WoW. Is anyone familiar with doing their own bone work?
