it's not really calculated, it just takes the `BuyPrice` column in `item_template`. If the creature has a faction with reputation, you get 5% discount per rank above neutral

yea i'm trying to figure out the formula for it, based on quality and slot

If you're asking how Blizzard calculated it, I have found that it is almost 100% arbitrary and just generalized
