I DLed the HD patch for wotlk characters, https://forum.warmane.com/showthread.php?t=433477, patch-H here. It looks great but it seems to mess up my custom emotes I have been messing with. When I try to open the patch-H with mpqeditor it brings up all the File.x type things and not the real files. Re-downloading the patch didnt seem to fix it for me. Is there a way to fix this so i can see inside it to see what inside that patch is affecting emotes?

custom patches commonly have dbc files, which will clash with your own dbc files. To edit existing patches you need to restore the listfile, which is simply just a text file with filenames so mpq editors know the actual filenames and not just FIle.x

this is typically not taught for obvious reasons since most people want to protect their own patches, but deprotecting dbc files is trivial. You just create a text file with full filenames for the dbc files you want to edit, and set up your mpq editor to use that as an "additional listfile" when you open the mpq

a full dbc filename would be something like `DBFilesClient\Spell.dbc`
