Copyright, patents, and other forms of protectionist law are there to stop people just copying the hard work of others and profiteering on it. It encourages quality because it rewards originality and having a market differentiator

As a consumer you make look at big brands and not like the direction they are taking, but that doesn't give you a free license to take their product and resell it how you want
