simply get the position of a variable (byte) and then delete 8 bytes from that position

because it needs to be done for each wmo group (my wmo has 100ish groups), and each batch, and also need to recalculate chunk lenght

but this is the whole script currently, it's to covnert wmo format v16 (0.6 beta build wmos)to v17

the only difference between those formats being that V16 has 8 empty bytes in batches that they removed later
