This screenshot is 1/8th the filesize of his png version and identical for most purposes:

You could reduce the filesize even more before artifacts became distracting.
PNG is a great format, but using it in the wrong situation is like using full bitrate WAVs instead of MP3s. (In fact, it's pretty much exactly like that)
