I actually did help someone with that recently, because they were having a similar issue and it was because of their NAT in their firewall settings

the only reason I try to avoid telling people to use external ips, is that a lot of hobbiests have dynamic ips, so they might find their server works for a few weeks, then just stops working and they won't know why

it's one of the issues with something that's sandboxy like TC...people want a one-size fits all install solution, but it's not really designed for people who are unfamiliar with the basics of networking or compiling and stuff...I've been in the background working on sort of a small independent project...it's a command line interface that's basically a menu system that controls stuff like updating and compiling packages, dependencies, has an interface for adjusting settings and accessing the database, and sql queries from it, all from a command line based menu system

it essentially is a script that can be made portable to turn any spare drive into a tc project, but unlike a repack, it allows you to keep your build up to date and such
