[Archive] Draenei Horn Fix
[Archive] Draenei Horn Fix
Quote: I don't know if this is common knowledge yet, but I figured I'd share since I haven't seen this mentioned or addressed in any of the race change guides (that I could find).
I've been very impressed with the female draenei model since it was released (more than miffed that horde got stuck with anorexic elves :yuck: ) so I spent a good deal of time tweaking my F.Orc --> F.Draenei mod and getting something I was satisfied with.
However, for the longest time, I've been stuck with a marked lack of horn...
But no longer! RAWR!!!!!
Here's how it goes [To do this, you'll need some sort of DBC editor, just as you need something like photoshop to modify textures.]:
Draenei horn data is stored in the same place as earrings and facial hair (this is how I stumbled across this fix in the first place). However, on races without horns (I've only tested orcs and blood elves so far) the geosets that reference the horn models are turned off...so we have to turn them on.
The file you need to extract is stored in:
Data\enUS\locale-enUS.MPQ
and in that mpq:
DBFilesClient\CharacterFacialHairStyles.dbc <---that's the file you're looking for
It looks something like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Hair_Horns.jpg
Using the hair style info, find the race/gender of your character and using something like ModelViewer, find the facial feature you're using (the "Style" Column). Facial Features for female characters are most often piercings, but they probably also apply to things like tusks and tattoos as well.
The "Geoset100" column is what you need to modify. Since there are 7 f.draenei horn styles, putting any number 1-7 in that column should turn on the horns...ridding your character of those painful holes in her head forever.
Save the .dbc file and repack it into a "patch-enUS-#.MPQ" (don't use # 2 since blizz is already using it) with the proper tree path, put that back into the enUS folder and you're done.
I'm not the best at explaining these things, so if you have questions feel free to ask.
Some screenshots...because I'm too excited:

Quote: I got the horns to work on my M.Troll -> F.Draenei, but I'm having some problems with the face paint showing up and the helm fix. If you could help in any way that would be great.

Quote: Browsing through the options for the troll model, it looks like the tusks and face tattoos are all controlled by the same thing.
You probably have to swap your character's facial features for one without tattoos as well as activating the horns.
There are 5 tusk variations that don't have tattoos on them, so try switching your character's "Style" number with one of those. I don't know if changing the numbers for both of these columns will work or not...but I guess it's worth a shot.
As for the helmets, the only way I know to make them fit is to make your own patch that uses "HelmetStyle_DrF.m2" files in place of the "HelmetStyle_TrM.m2" for each helmet that you want changed. There might me a dbc method, but I've not bothered to play around with that (I usually hide the helmets or only change 1 or 2 that my characters are using at the time).

Quote: Thanks for the help, I got the face paint working although the fix was a pain.
I like to fix every helm so that when I walk around and see other people they don't look stupid with a funny looking helm.
