Even with pretty long intervals it's usually okay, not perfect obviously and the longer the distance the more likely you are to get mmap weirdness I find but up to about 20 yards is usually fine. I can't advise on best practices or tools for doing straight to the DB as we use TS-WoW so it's as simple as walking around spamming a `.at` macro and copy pasting the output it gives.
