Maybe as an idea that comes to my mind right away, look at the trash event in the room before Sindragosa in ICC?
Upon entering, you face several waves of NPCs, and after those waves, the door to Sindra is opened.
Without looking further into it: maybe that's something you could look into for your idea?

This is written in C++ instance script. and I don't want to hire anyone to write it for me in C++ for a few simple escort quests, but thanks for your idea.
