If it’s still not connecting make sure you have your ports open.
If it still doesn’t work.

You will more than likely need to recompile especially if you are using an incorrect version of MySQL Community.

I did mine pretty much the same way as the site tells you to. Except the MySQL part.

For MySQL I don’t tell anything where things are. Once I’ve cloned from GitHub, I run cmake. Once I’ve done that, I compile, then I get the database and place it in a new folder, I get my .dll files that are required to run, then I get my mmaps, vmaps, maps, dbc. Then I load up xampp. I then change all settings in authserver.conf.dist and worldserver.conf.dist to match my information and then and then I save each file name as authserver.conf and worldserver.conf, I change xampp a bit more to make it more difficult for the outside to get into MySQL and phpmyadmin. Then I enable soap, gd, gd2, mod_headers, mod_expires, mod_deflate. Then open the ports required to run WoW.

Then after that I simply open the worldserver.exe and it let it auto populate (assuming you have already created “auth, characters, world” databases using UTF8 with utf8-general-ci)

Then I just create and admin account.
And that’s pretty much it.
Most other would use scripts for websites etc though.
And finding a CMS that works fully is next to impossible especially if you don’t have the dev skills.

Hope this helps.
Am I missing anything out?
