Yeah, I'll probably look at that. ascent has a cool logging feature, but it spits out a .log file. I'll see how to convert it to a .bin

Yeah, sorry for being aggressive there. I initially interpreted it as "don't sniff on pservers, don't ruin other people's work, but it's ok to sniff on blizz"

The purpose of the sniffer (at least this one) is to sniff official data, therefor is made for that, and cores tried to keep their data closer to the official one

Without giving up too much info about it, why is a packet sniffer different than just running wireshark? How can blizz patch the sniffer if it becomes open source?

I'm unsure if it's actually for blizzard patching but more from people that would use it, modify it for their benefit and probably capitalise on it, but I'm not fully sure, mdx is the maintener he can answer better
