I'd probably just make the SQL server do the prepared statement instead

As long as it's a recent version of SQL it's fine that way and surely no one is running a giant database on a 486 where it'd be too expensive to process

But I'm not aware of what that library you're using does/works. Maybe that's exactly what it does. I've only briefly looked at the code
