Guess thats my question. I can manipulate the database prior to loading the core in a script, but once the core is loaded, my changes are not reflected until next restart.

That's how the whole core works on most levels. Data is read into a container and periodically saved to the db.
Tldr; never modify the db at runtime.

Unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Thanks for the reply. Thats what I was afraid of. I didnt want to write a module. Yes, I understand how the database works, Ive worked with sql/mysql for decades. * I wrote a bash script to populate the alliance/horde side of the auction house with 1000's of random items via ACCOUNT (10 characters) and not one character like the AH_BOT does - that are close to real life auction house. I was just looking if it I could update it periodicaly while the core was running.

Why not just use the ahbot in that case?

It only uses one character - My script uses multiple characters making it more realistic. Besides, ahbot is limited on what it uses

I'm also not sure if you can even add auctions without a character, I would assume not since the ahbot requires one.

You could look at the code for the ahbot and make your own module I guess
