stepped through the ai initialization and it passes back the correct spell ids and everything. i ended up jsut copying my spell to 24484 and now the ai casts it sometimes

Less fun? I use GitHub Desktop too and it's just so easy to use and "I don't see an option to pull" doesn't exactly sound appealing.
