i want to avoid using acore-cms because its not very straightforward to use and need a way for people to create an account

With the faction change, if I can tell you, it takes a little longer, the client is left processing the request for a moment, it is not instantaneous, so probably both are fine. If they are not, you can run tests, open issues or even open a pull request to propose an improvement, if they fail.
