Yeah, it could just as well have been edited to only allow connections from a specific source etc etc, we have no idea. Especially since it uses boost 1.59, openssl 1.0, mysql 5.5.9. That has to be very old.

If the core is old, like I think it is, you have to adapt the queries to the new structure of the tables but overall the data can probably be salvaged.

There are no downsides to compiling it yourself. Updates whenever you want, change whatever you want whenever you want, know the code is safe to use and so on.
