[Archive] Frozen Shadoweave Shoulders (remodel)
Quote:Alright! First off I'd like to thank you for even CLICKING on my thread. This is my first real shot at making one for MMOwned. I've been a leecher since 2006 and something tells me I should get off my a$$ and do something, BUT not to bore you with all kind of crap about me, I'll just begin to explain what this is...
For all of you who deal the bone-chilling ice damage of a Frost Mage, and all you evil priests who have been slaves to the dark side (Shadow of course) and all of those nasty, fear-spamming locks who all need to die.... I present to you a remodel of the Frozen Shadoweave Shoulders created by a fan of the set and brought to you, my fellow MMOwned peers.
If you know anything about how WoW has created some of the newer armor you'd understand what I mean when I say that they have used a chunk of the old lvl 60 gear from before BC and simply re-textured them to make them look... "new." - Unfortunately, most of WoW's population has noticed and has given much appreciation for Blizz's laziness........
So here I have taken the models for the Frozen Shadoweave Shoulders(also used by other shoulder items such as the lvl 60 mage raiding gear) and moved around a few of it's vertexes and created a whole new look at the model.
Here are the screenies!!!
Like what you see? Well here's the Rapidshare link to download the *.MPQ file: patch-3.MPQ
CONTENTS: This MPQ contains the new "updated" models for the left and right shoulders (they are seperate in case you hadn't known) and an additional model edit: The almighty Skinning Knife. All this does is make the skinning knife look like a much more impressive blade... or just a pretty big sword. (Screenshot below)
INSTALLATION: If you've made it this far to see this thread I'm convinced you already know how to install the MPQ... so I'm going to leave this part up to you.
Any questions, comments, praises, or flames; feel free to comment.

Quote:+ 2 rep, nuff said. It's a really nice addition, I see from the screenshot that you used 3ds max, but what other programs did you used too make that? Tried to remodel with 3ds max too but it just went fail and not like the way how I wanted it to be lol, and exporting the model..pff 99% of the time my model were just basically "screwed" and wow always crashed when it load lol.

Here's the programs I used:
-WoW Model Viewer (to find the model I wanted to edit)
-MyWarcraftStudio (to export the M2 model)
-Glitchy's MES (to convert the model into a .obj)
-3DS Max 9 (to edit the model to my liking)
Once I finished editing:
1) Exported new model as .obj
2) Used Glitchy's MES to convert back to .M2
3) Used MywarcraftStudio to import the model into an MPQ
4) Ran wow.
5) Cried for joy.
Simple as that ^_^

Well thank you Jeleopard! It wasn't too time consuming to be honest
The long part is waiting for 3DS max to install Q.Q ~ Doing the actual editing was about 5-10 minutes on both pieces (right and left)... but my idea about what item to edit took a while too! haha

Sounds good! If you need any tutorials on 3DS Max aim for getting the v9.0 it comes with a helpful startup that shows you the basics like creating objects, manipulating them and so on... I watched all 8 videos in like 20minutes and took off from there.
One thing you have to keep in mind with editing models from wow is that when your tampering with it's shapes and dimensions you MUST NOT delete NOR add any nodes (vertexes/points)... The skin is applied to the model according to it's points. Unless there is some program where you can create the blp skin for the model and fixate your skin onto it manually, this will always be a small bump in the model editing world
