IMO, it would look more solid and crisp in-game. Even if you keep the icy blade, i believe you can use the replica to fix the skull/hilt. Good luck and keep us updated. +rep
EDIT: Gave the skull a quick go myself and came up with this http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6...tmournexz4.jpg Looks a little better IMO, just needs some frost effects in the eyes/nose i think.
