in theory performance should be similar between Linux and Windows but Linux typically runs server software with higher performance in general. Latency will increase as the tick rate of the server decreases. What CPU is your server running on? higher single-threaded performance is almost always what you want. if your server is on a VPS, you may be contending for CPU time (which would show up %steal on linux)
