You don't need that much RAM. 4GB VM could run W10 so if you have 8 GB RAM you might be able to pull it off but 16 or more is obviously ideal.

could just copy the file from VM > my gaming pc, edit, then move back to the VM

vm itself not...but if u run IDE and VM and server its not so easy

Of course I'm not stupid enough to try and running active servers on my regular PC, hint shutdown every night hint, which is why I bought my servers
