just curious, last update was fine, this update i am getting azeroth-server/etc/worldserver.conf, add "TempDir = " to this file - so, I know how to add that to the file BUT where should i put the tmp folder? inside the azeroth-server folder somewhere? outside of it? just use the tmp folder linux uses?

nm, I figured I would try ducking (duck duck go) around and see if I could find someone elses worldserver.conf and when I couldn't find one of theirs I had an idea... maybe after recompiling the compile updated the dist file... so, I went in there, found the TempDir and copied and pasted that into the worldserver.conf file. I followed the wiki info before on updating the server... it worked flawlessly... but, this time, seems some steps were missing and it's hard for me to follow because I don't do this stuff anymore - I'm new to compiling on Linux. Back in the day, sure, I programmed 6502 assembly without breaking a sweat. I'm old now... out of touch...I am unsure what to do. So far, just adding in that TempDir is going through all the DB updates successfully now.
Maybe someone wants to mention in the docs for upgrading the DB that you should copy the dist ones over the other ones when compiling. Also, despite working, there was piles of RED again and I realized the new dists have WAY more stuff in them compared to the originals. So, I guess I'll have to figure out what I changed before and copy that into a new worldserver.conf file.
Us noobs, need step by step please... I may be an advanced assembly language programmer (in the past) - but, I'm not familiar with modern compiling, navigating Ubuntu, tinkering, where to put things, when to do certain things, what folders do I go into before I can run certain .sh commands and so on and so on...
Well, I might have corrupted everything this time... it didn't want to abort so I held down CTRL-C and it finally aborted. So, we shall see.... I shouldn't touch things... I had it working... it's a VM, I did back it up, but it's frustrating to have to start over from scratch again when things mess up...

What you wrote about adding flags from dist to conf is right. New commit's flags show up in the dist file.
If you don't add them to the conf file, it uses default values and reminds the user of the missing and thus potentially wrong flag.

I messed it up... I'll have to recover from the backup and start over bummer.... I barely have time to update this... it's been 5 hours reading, trying to find where the wiki went, going on chromiecraft discord, finding the proper commit hash for someone with 335.7 and then going here and...
Lots of time... LOL!
BUT, i do thank everyone who contributes. I just wish I wasn't old and running out of time. I miss being young and having more time. Wish I had time to contribute. I barely have time to play the private server once every 2-3 months
