Quote: Yeah, we all know that the sticky is supposed to be read. I did. Everyone also know that moderation action will be taken against people who don't follow that sticky. I know that too.

However, I thought it would be important and helpful to list to people a way to keep the scan.dll file from coming back. On my computer at least, every time I delete it, WoW tries to reinstall the file. So, to combat that, you can do this easy thing, which will make it so that Blizzard doesn't reinstall the scan.dll file.

Delete both scan.dll and scan.dll.new from your World of Warcraft folder. From here on, be hasty, as we don't want to have it come back. Next, go to notepad. Save your blank file in the World of Warcraft folder and name it "Scan.dll" without quotes. Using this, you should be able to prevent the scan.dll file from running, as well as keep it from fixing itself.

Comments and critisism are appreciated, so long as they are not "zomg u no listen 2 demunkoongah, u gon get teh banstick".

Quote: I'm also curious about this since I'm not even sure what the security update applies to, is it just the use of MEFix.exe edits or even the non-MEFix.exe ones?

And honestly I think it would be helpful if the http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...-nerf-5-a.html was a bit more descriptive, since you're locking all the other discussions it's very hard to actually get some answers on what you should do.

I do this mostly since my work is a bit more wide than the average edit and I just want to <know> what is going on and what I should tell everyone.

Quote: Well, just restarted my computer and it stayed as my version of the Scan.dll, so I'm guessing this is a solid fix for it. Anyone else try it?

EDIT: Hahah, thanks Verye, I needed that Tongue

Quote: or, if you have a nice av, mark scan.dll in that folder as a virus and it deletes it when it tries to download it again

Quote: Is it the Scan.dll that pops up WoW after you run the WoWME.exe and says that you have a third party program running?

This is different, this method is not mentioned at all in that post.
