i run the server on a vm i backup, and then when im not on it and dont expect my like 2 friends that play it to be on i shut the vm down

as i said....backups....i got automatic backups of all my DBs which are automatically sent to other place

Do you limit the IPs that can connect to the server? And if you do with what sort of system do you do it?

"no" for now i got private server so i dont have to deal with anything when it will be public i will add ddos protection which will block certain ips automatically but for server for 2 friends that is pointless

u either have private server where u can have ip whitelist or u have public server where having ip blacklist doesnt rly make sense except ip banned players and ddos attackers

if its just u and 2 friends setup vpn disable literally everything and allow only that vpn which is protected
