I want to ask, how does that work with classes like paladins or druids that can have different gear based on the specialization. Is paladin forced to use i.e prot/retri gear or is there a selection asking you what spec to use and gives the gear based on that when you create it?

It doesn't inquire or check for the character's spec since it is intended to be run at level 1 (55 for DKs) so it just gives the gear for all specs of the class. At least, that's what Blizzard does. Proving to be a bit of a PITA for the template I'm making from Wowhead bis lists

Oh, right. That's nice. For some reason I got it in my head that you get a notification at the character creation screen that you can use a.. lets pretend its called token, to instantly level it up to max level and you get to pick spec there. It does sound right though when you say it like that.

I *wanted* to make use of that hip new lua injection stuff to add a button on the character select screen to make a template, but don't know that it would fit in the length limit

Too bad there's no button at the character selection screen like the faction/race change thing that you can click to level the selected character up to 80 instantly. That would be amazing.
