I don't mean fully implement everything in an expansion before moving on but at least the basic features of it. You see plenty of attempts at newer expansions that don't even have phasing working properly, after all.

I'd personally do the same really, reverse engineering and system implementation is fun, recreating content is pretty boring

When you say it like that, from that point of view I can totally understand it. I was mainly looking at the game part of it which was my mistake.
